Agricultural Intensification

Agricultural work is often seasonal. It provides employment only during the season and farmer remains unemployed for part of the year. The promotion and support for labor intensive agricultural enterprises, should help increase rural employment, production and income. Farm operations on smaller scales can be more efficient, furnishing higher returns to the scarcest factors of production (land and capital).

Intensification can also have a favorable impact on off-farm employment through the multiplier effect on the local economy.
